Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-09-26
Effective date: 2026-09-26
This policy explains what GrooVVee collects, why, and how it's used. GrooVVee does not sell your personal data to third parties.
1. Information you provide
- Account info: display name, email or phone number, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), and country/region.
- If you sign in with Google, Facebook, Apple, or Microsoft instead: we receive your name and email address from that provider, and a unique ID for your account with them, so we can recognize you next time. We do not receive your password for that account.
- If you sign in with a phone number: we send a one-time verification code by text through a third-party SMS provider, which sees your phone number only to deliver that code.
- If you turn on two-step verification: we store a secret code used only to check the 6-digit codes your authenticator app generates. We never see or store the codes themselves.
- Content: posts, messages, comments, portfolio items, and anything you upload or stream.
- Profile info: bio, avatar, and anything else you choose to add.
2. Information collected automatically
- Location: your approximate location (country, and usually city) is detected automatically both at sign-up and each time you sign in, first by asking your device for its real GPS position (your browser will show its own permission prompt for this — you can decline, and we fall back to a coarser, connection-based guess), so pricing and content match where you actually are. If you use the Buddy crisis-resources "find help near me" feature, your device's precise location is requested again separately, at that specific moment.
- Device permissions: camera and microphone access is requested only when you actively start a live stream, a call, a voice note, or a camera capture — never in the background.
- Notifications: if you turn on notifications, we store a device-specific subscription used only to deliver them to that device. You can turn this off at any time.
- Usage data: what you watch, listen to, and interact with, used to power real personalization (like "Recommended for You"), not shared externally.
3. How information is shared
- With other users: your posts, profile, live streams, and messages are visible to the audience you intend (public posts, or the specific person/room you message).
- With advertisers: advertisers see aggregate performance numbers (impressions, clicks) for their own campaigns — never your identity, messages, or account credentials.
- With sign-in providers: if you use Google/Facebook/Apple/Microsoft/SMS sign-in, see section 1 above for exactly what that provider sees or sends us. We don't share anything else with them.
- We do not sell personal data to data brokers or third parties.
4. Data storage and security
Account and content data is stored on GrooVVee's own servers, backed up automatically. Passwords are hashed, never stored or transmitted in plain text. Two-step verification secrets and backup codes are likewise never shown or sent anywhere in plain text after the moment you first set them up. Payment processing (where applicable) does not store your full card details on GrooVVee's own servers.
5. Your choices
You can edit your profile information and delete individual posts/messages you've created at any time. You can permanently delete your entire account yourself, at any time, from Account settings (Social > your profile > Delete Account) — no need to contact support. This immediately and permanently deletes your videos, songs, and posts, including the uploaded files themselves, and cannot be undone. Messages/comments you sent remain in other people's conversations (removing them from someone else's inbox isn't something deleting your own account can do), and past orders are kept for record-keeping — both simply show "Deleted user" instead of your name afterward. Camera, microphone, location, and notification permissions can be revoked at any time through your device's own settings.
6. Children's privacy
GrooVVee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a material way, we'll update the effective date above and make a reasonable effort to notify users.
8. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to the address on the app's support/contact page.
